I gave my first conference talk. Here's why I said yes.

I led a breakout session at the 2026 South Central PA Women in Business Conference. I was nervous, and I'm so glad I did it anyway.

On October 20, I gave my first conference talk.

I led a breakout session at the 2026 South Central PA Women in Business Conference called Digital Confidence: Take Control of Your Business Online. We spent 45 minutes on the questions most business owners can't answer about their own business:

  • Who registered your domain?
  • Who still has administrator access to your website?
  • What happens if the person who set it all up stops answering the phone?

I was nervous

Speaking in front of a room was not something I had ever done.

But I kept landing on the same thought: you don't grow inside your comfort zone. So I said yes, and then I spent a month preparing for something I had never done before.

Thank you

Thank you to the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce for the invitation and for trusting a first-time speaker with a room. And thank you to everyone who showed up and was willing to say out loud that they didn't know the answer. That takes something too!

Were you in the room, or wish you had been? The slides, the Website Records worksheet, the 30-day fix list, and every link from the session are on the Digital Confidence resources page.

If there's an opportunity in front of you that scares you a little, that's probably the one.
